Hot Child in the Suburbs

Dress:  Fighting Eel (old, similar here, here), Bag:  Louis Vuitton, Shoes:  Tory Burch, Cross Bracelet:  similar here, here, here, Aviators:  Ray-Ban, Nails:  Essie 'to buy or not to buy' (love the name!!)

I know, I know, "suburbs" does not have as great a ring to it as "city" but I had to keep it real!  We are having another heat wave in NJ and the temp is supposed to be 90+ degrees through the weekend and into next week.

My outfit today is a little simpler than what I normally wear but if it were socially acceptable to walk around in a bikini, I would probably be doing just that.  Also, I must confess, my idea of showering the past couple of days has consisted of splashing around in various swimming pools.

We took the above pictures at dusk and I was kinda diggin the blue hue that showed up as a result.

I took the picture below while sunning on my friend's pool deck in Hoboken - amazing view of the city - life is good :-)

Paisley Pants

Cami:  Tibi, Pants:  Zara (recent, similar here), Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Earrings:  Kendra Scott, Bracelet:  Forever21 (similar here)

I have a lot to say about this outfit post :

What is more genius than making dress pants that feel {and kinda look} like pajama pants? The print is a bit bold and out of my comfort zone which makes me love them even more.

I consider this Tibi cami an investment piece.  I purchased it a while ago and it cost more than I would typically spend on a cami. I debated for some time and finally took the plunge - boy am I glad I did!  It is a top that will never go out of style and can be worn with almost everything I own.

These earrings remind me of a pair of Lorraine Schwartz earrings that Angelina wore to the 2009 Academy Awards.  I fell in love with them - the stunning emerald stones paired with her understated black dress was elegant and flawless.

Clearly Angelina's were a bit out of my price range but these Kendra Scott look-alikes are just as stunning and at under $60 are totally affordable!

School's Out For Summer

Dress:  Anthropologie (old, similar here), Bag:  Marc by Marc Jacobs (older, similar here), Shoes:  Bebe (oldest, similar here, here), Bangle & Necklace:  H&M

Yesterday was the last day of school.  Although I wait for this day with excitement and anticipation every year, when it finally arrives my feelings are bitter-sweet.
Not only do I miss the students and my colleagues/friends, but I also miss my routine where I'm up early in the morning and am busy all day long.  It makes me feel like I'm not wasting the day away.

This feeling quickly fades as soon as I hit the beach!

I may be on a break from school, but Classroom Couture will not be taking a vacation.  I'll be posting new outfits all summer long so stay tuned!

I tried to take an action shot this week of me "jumping for joy" but I ended up looking like the severely uncoordinated cheerleader who got cut from the squad.

Summer Nights

Jacket:  Zara (recent, similar here), Top:  LaMade (old), Jeans:  7FAM, Shoes:  Zara, Bag:  Gucci (very old)

White on white is one of my favorite color {or lack of color} combinations.  It's so crisp and clean-looking, and is perfect for summer ~ or all year round if you are daring!

This June has been on the cooler side for NJ which is okay with me because it's allowed me to get lots of use out of my beloved blazers.  This was another recent Zara purchase and I couldn't be happier with it.   I've already worn it several times and have been keeping it in my car to ensure it's always on-hand for cooler nights.  A fabulous alternative to my emergency sorority sweatshirt I keep in my trunk!

Father's Day

Dress:  Zara, (recent, similar here) Shoes:  Zara (similar here), Bag:  Anthropologie (similar here), Aviators:  Ray-Ban (similar here)

I'm completely obsessed with this dress I picked up last week at Zara.  While I'm typically drawn to more fitted dresses, I love the flowy silhouette of this dress.  The lace detail throughout is so delicate.  It makes me feel carefree, feminine, and fun, and I can eat all I want without feeling like a stuffed sausage!

{My brother & me with my dad}

Happy Father's Day to the most wonderful dad in the world.

"Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly..."

I love you Dad!

Think Pink

Top:  H&M (similar love this one), Shorts:  Anthropologie (similar here), Shoes:  Zara (similar here), Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Belt:  H&M (similar here), Watch:  DKNY (similar here)

How adorable are these pink shorts?!?  When I saw them in Anthropologie a few weeks ago, I knew they would be coming home with me.  The length was perfect ~ booty shorts are not my thang ~ and the color was so vibrant it instantly brightened my day!

I got stuck in the rain several times on Saturday, so I channeled my inner 80's child (hence the side pony).

Happy Wednesday!!

The Marvelous Maxi

Dress:  Rachel Pally (old, similar here), Fedora:  Urban Outfitters (similar here), Necklace:  House of Harlow, Clutch:  Madison Elizabeth (similar here, here)

I apoligize for the lack of posts this past week.  With the school year coming to a close and summer vacay around the corner, we have had events almost every night and all weekend long!

This is my go-to uniform for summer events.  A great maxi can be dressed up or down and they are super comfortable.  I picked this one up years ago on major sale and I wear it way too oftern.  Whether to a BBQ, outdoor shower, or an afternoon spent at the winery, maxis are perfect for every occasion.

Lately, I feel like the humidy in NJ has been at 110%, so I threw the fedora on to cover up a terrible hair day!

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Top:  H&M (similar here), Pants:  J.Crew (similar here), Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Shoes:  Zara, Necklace:  Anthropologie (this one is on my wishlist!)

Although my look may suggest that I am watching something interesting and pondering something intelligent, the truth is that I was looking at a gaggle of geese approaching our yard looking as if they were ready to destroy our lawn and thinking to myself, "Oh crumb!  I'm going to have to chase them away in these heels!!"  Hahaha ~ looks can be deceiving!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!

Sunday Fun-day

Top:  J.Crew, Pants:  Zara (similar here), Shoes:  Zara, Belt:  H&M, (similar here) Necklaces:  Madewell (similar here), Cross Necklace (similar here), Bag:  LV Speedy, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban, Watch:  DKNY (similar here)

My husband owns his own business, which means he typically works six sometimes even seven days a week.  Sunday is the only day when we get to spend the majority of the day together.  We often spend the morning in Warwick ~ a quaint town in Orange County NY full of boutiques, antique shops, and charming cafes.  We start with brunch at our favorite French cafe and then head over to the farmer's market which they host from May to October.  Today we picked up some homemade beef jerky and ravioli to go with wine from the best winery in the area.

Needless to say, Sunday is definitely my favorite day of the week!

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?
