Jumping the Gun

Coat:  J.Crew (sold out, similar here), Dress:  Madewell, Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Shoes:  Valentino, Belt:  Forever 21 (similar), Tights:  Anthropoloige
Every year I jump the gun and begin to buy spring/summer clothes in January as soon as they start to pop up in stores.  This is a silly habit for someone living in NJ because winter weather can last well into April!  This year, I decided to hold off and really think about the summer pieces that I need {want} in my life and how they would fit in my wardrobe.  One of my first purchases was this adorable Madewell Bistro Dress.  I think it's a great transition piece that I will get a LOT of use out of.  As you already know, I'm all about dresses that are work appropriate and cute to wear outside of the workplace.  This little striped number definitely fits the bill!  Stick around to see how I style it for warmer weather...
I know I briefly mentioned it last week, but I just wanted to say thank you again to Miloveda from Style Outlaw for the lovely post she did about my blog.
She is just darling!

  5. How cute is your Madewell dress?! I totally agree, I get tired of winter in early February and mentally move on to Spring until the weather catches up.

  13. This dress is SO pretty! Eep! I love it! And I'm so with you - I always want to buy spring things so early, but living in Canada, much like NJ, spring really doesn't come until mid-late April! And YES, I am also completely about dresses that are appropriate for work & play! I always want to wear my favorites everywhere, so they've got to be multi-functional! Again, love this so much and love the bright pink coat with it!

  14. I heard you ask a question at the IFB Con and then I was over at Daily Fashion Muse and saw the post you collaborated with her on, so I had to pop over and check you out! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog and your sense of style. I'm a little jealous that you get to buy all these fun work/going out clothes. I'm a stay at home mom of three kids and I get to "go out" roughly once a week for a date night with the hubby, so as much as I'd love to buy all these cute dress and skirts, it's just not happening. I often say I'd like to have a job though, just so I can dress up. Ok, maybe not...:) You have an incredible sense of style! I absolutely adore this hot pink J. Crew jacket and how you paired it with the black and white striped dress. I agree, the dress is a great transitional piece. So excited to be following your blog!
