Holiday Dressing: Christmas Party

Dress:  Amanda Uprichard (old, this year's version here), Coat:  French Connection (very old,LOVE this similar Club Monaco version), Shoes:  Christian Louboutin (budget-friendly option here under $50!!), Earrings:  Chico's (similar here), Bag:  J.Crew (old, similar here)

This past weekend, my husband and I attended a Christmas party for a service organization which he is a part of.  I knew going into it that we would be the youngest attendees so I definitely wanted to don a more simple/sophisticated look.

I wore this dress last year on Christmas Eve.

Rule #2:  Wear your HIGHEST heels.

"You put on high heels and you change." - Manolo Blahnik

Couldn't agree more ~ there is something about heels that instantly transforms me.  I go from feeling ordinary to feeling extraordinary.

'Tis the season to wear RED!!!

Holiday Style: Work Party

Dress:  Black Halo, Belt:  Forever 21 (similar here), Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Earrings:  Chico's (similar here), Nails:  Essie "Hot Coco"

With the holidays in full swing I decided to dedicate this week to holiday dressing.  I haven't addressed my rules of holiday style on the blog yet, so it's about time I shared.

Rule #1:  OVERDRESS!!

A dress is definitely my holiday garment of choice and over the years I have accumulated a plethora of dresses.  Rather than buying a new one for every party/event, I try to rotate them.  For the most part, my husband and I attend the same parties year after year.  The key is to remember what dress was worn to each event the previous year so that there are no repeats!

This dress {an eBay find} was perfect for my work holiday party ~ sophisticated and chic.  When attending an after work event I don't want to feel as if I'm going to work.  I choose to wear an outfit that is fancier than anything I would wear on the job.  Last year I wore this dress for Thanksgiving.

I'm excited to share with you today a collaboration I did with GoTryItOn and SheFinds.com

about holiday dressing.
My main rule is simple and easy enough for anyone to do ~ OVERDRESS!!

Next week's posts will all be dedicated to holiday dressing according to Moi.  You'll definitely want to stay tuned for that.  In the meantime hop on over to Shefinds.com to check out:

Sweater:  Aritzia (last year, similar here ~ on sale!!), Pants:  Citizens of Humanity, Shoes:  Christain Louboutin(budget-friendly version here), Clutch:  ASOS

On Your Mark, Get Set...

Raglan Tee:  Forever 21, Sweater:  Aritzia (last year, similar here ~ on sale!!), Pants:  Citizens of Humanity, Shoes:  Christain Louboutin (budget-friendly version here), Clutch:  ASOS

My husband and I were supposed to go to Raceway Park yesterday so he could drive a Ferrari F430 around the track {my birthday gift to him}.

I was ready in black and white {& a pop of red} with the hope of being able to wave the checkered flag!

Unfortunately, his driving event got cancelled because of an inclement weather forecast.  He was totally bummed so I suggested that we take his father's Kelmark out for a spin ~ not exactly the same but it'll have to do until we can reschedule.

The Neutral Zone

Sweater: Brandy & Melville (similar here), Tee: Urban Outfitters, Pants: Forever 21 (old, similar here), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (LOVE this newer version), Shoes: Christain Louboutin (budget friendly version here), Necklace: Gorjana, Watch: DKNY (obsessed with this one), Nails: Essie "Good as Gold"

Although I thoroughly enjoy a hearty pop of color, every once in a while it's nice to tone it down with some low-key neutrals.

Thirty is the New Twenty-One

Sweater:  Aritzia (borrowed from my sister-in-law, similar here, here), Tee:  Anthropologie, Pants:  Forever 21, Shoes:  Christain Louboutin (budget-friendly version here), Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff, Necklace:  Forever 21, Nails:  Essie "Butler Please"

This past weekend marked a major landmark in my life.  I turned 30!!!

My friends teased me for wearing all black saying I was mourning the passing of my twenties, but I'm actually excited to begin this new decade.

I vow to make it even more exciting than the last!

Band Camp

Jacket:  Forever 21 (old, similar here), Jeans:  J.Brand, Shoes:  Christian Louboutin (budget friendly version here), Clutch:  Vintage Dior wallet {borrowed from my mom} (similar here), sunnies:  Ray-Ban

I LOVE the cut and the detail of this band jacket that I purchased years ago from Forever 21.  It never goes out of syle and makes me feel so regal when I'm wearing it.

And it's so jazzy that I don't need a lot of accessories.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Swiss Dots

Sweater:  J.Crew (similar budget friendly version here), Blouse:  Joe Fresh (similar here), Skirt:  Bebe (old, similar here), Shoes:  Christain Louboutin, Bag:  Marc by Marc Jacobs (old, newrsio ven here)

I'd say this is the quintessential teacher uniform.  Very "J.Crew catalog" looking.  Preppy yet chic.  I'm obsessed with this swiss dotted sweater that I picked up last week ~ another item you can count on seeing again!

Ok, ok ~ it's technically pink, white and blue but I don't have a lot of red in my wardrobe!

I want to take a moment to remember & thank those who were lost and those who served eleven years ago, and those who continue to serve.

Blast from the Past: Bridal Shower

Dress:  Trina Turk (old, similar here, OBSESSED with this one), Shoes:  Christain Louboutin, Clutch:  Madison Elizabeth (similar here under $25!!), Necklace:  J.Crew (similar here), Bracelet:  Unknown (similar here), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

From the minute I set my eyes on this Trina Turk dress, I knew it was the one.  I just had to wear it to my bridal shower.  The color and fit were perfect.  Only one obstacle was standing between me and my dream shower ensamble:  how do you choose what to wear for a surprise event?  To solve this problem I decided I would wear the dress every Saturday starting 2 months prior to my wedding day.

Fortunately {or maybe unfortunately} I went into super-sleuth mode and figured out the date of my shower well in advance and therefore looked perfectly primped for my special day.
