First Signs of Fall

Jacket:  Aritzia (old, similar here), Sweater:  J.Crew (borrowed from my hubby, love this one), Jeans:  Forever 21, Scarf:  Alexander McQueen, Bag:  Marc by Marc Jacobs, Shoes:  Sam Edelman, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

It finally started to feel like fall over the weekend. A little crazy considering last weekend was 80+ degrees and I was wearing my skimpiest sundress in an attempt to stay cool at the winery.

But I welcome the crisp chill in the air.

A great excuse to break out my scarves and sweaters.

Happy Monday everyone!

Dressed Up Track Pants

Blazer: Forever 21 (old, similar here), Tee:  Splendid, Pants:  Michael Stars c/o Montana Blues ~ use code MARGO15 for 15% off of their entire website!, Clutch:  J.Crew (old, similar here), Shoes:  Classiques Entier (old, simlar here, OBSESSED with this similar option), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

It's finally feeling like fall!

I apologize for the blogging break but I had a small surgical procedure {nothing serious} last week and was feeling way under the weather.

I finally started feeling like myself again yesterday, and hope to be back to work by mid-week.

Major thanks to Montana Blues for these super comfy track pants that can easily be dressed up for an office chic look. They are the perfect choice when you really want to do is stay in your PJ's, yet are required to look dressed to the nines.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

Oops, I Did It Again

Top:  very old (identical here), Skirt:  J.Crew (not available online yet, LOVE this one), Bag:  Aldo (old, loving this embossed clutch), Shoes:  Aquazzura, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

Channeling my inner Brittany today with this swingy skirt + white button down.

I've always been a big fan of pinstripes, so when I spotted this skirt I knew I needed to make it mine.

I paired it with my new favorite kicks to add some modern flare to the classic schoolgirl look.

Happy Monday everyone!

Right Around the Corner

Sweater:  Club Monaco ~ on sale! (another great option here), Jeans:  J.Crew (old, similar here), Bag:  Sophie Hulme, Shoes:  Tibi (also here), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

The weather this weekend was beautiful, yet unseasonably cold for August in NJ ~ a little reminder from Mother Nature that fall is right around the corner.

And as excited as I am for fall fashion, I will stick to summer styles for as long as I can.

Happy Monday everyone!

Primary

My yellow dress fit in perfectly with the green, blue and red Adirondack chairs in our yard, completing the primary color scheme.

I picked up these shoes on major sale at Barneys a few weeks back, and I'm completely obsessed. I obviously NEEDED another pair of tan shoes in my extensive collection {detect the sarcasm}, but the price was just too good to pass up.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Colorful Kicks

Top:  Anthropologie (old, similar here), Pants:  Anthropologie (old, LOVE this similar option), Shoes:  Burberry Prorsum, Clutch:  Anthropologie (old, similar here, also love this one), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

When I purchased these pink shoes {on major sale}, I never imagined I would get so much use out of them. I quickly realized that they look amazing with pretty much everything in my closet.

During the summer months, I gravitate toward my brightly colored shoes much more than I do to the neutral ones.

This can only mean one thing ~ I must make it my mission to purchase a pair of shoes in every color of the rainbow.

Happy Monday everyone!

Bright Sunshiny Day

Dress:  Anthropologie (very old, similar here, also love this printed version), Bag:  3.1 Phillip Lim, Shoes:  Tibi (old, new version here, also here), Necklace:  c/o KiKi La Rue (OBSESSED with this similar option), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

After having a picture-perfect weekend, this sunshiny number provided the perfect pick-me-up to get me over the mid-week hump.

Better days are ahead people ~ they are called Saturday and Sunday. In the meantime, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Weekend Warrior

Dress: Odylyne via Free People (very old, identical option herealso here), Hat:  Bloomingdales (very old, similar here), Sandals:  Loeffler Randall (sold out, identical here for under $30!), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban, Earrings:  Anthropolgie (old, LOVE these)

The one thing I REALLY miss about teaching?

Summer vacation.

Therefore my new schedule leaves me longing for the weekends.

We have been lucky enough to have some wonderful weekend weather in NJ this summer. Therefore, my husband and I have been seizing the opportunity to go down the shore.

So, when our weekends are not occupied by parties, weddings, or showers - you know where to find us.

Hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as I did!

A Monday Mini

Top:  Equipment ~ on sale! (also here, here, alternate color here), Skirt:  J.Crew (similar herealso liking this fluted option), Shoes:  Zara (old, great option herehere under $40), Bag:  Louis Vuitton (LOVE this similar bag), Aviators:  Ray-Ban

Keeping it short and sweet today {this post and my skirt}.

My husband and I had a spectacular weekend ~ Saturday in particular. We enjoyed a bottle {or two} at the winery, and then tried a new restaurant that we just LOVED.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Back to Business

Top:  J.Crew, Skirt:  J.Crew (old, similar here), Bag:  Louis Vuitton (LOVE this similar option), Shoes:  Burberry Prorsum ~ on sale! (also here), Aviators:  Ray-Ban

This past weekend was one of those weekends that you never want to end. We celebrated the 4th at my summer stomping grounds - the Jersey Shore.

The beach was absolutely beautiful, and my husband and I had the most relaxing time.

But all good things must come to an end, and yesterday it was back to the daily grind.

I felt a little like a watermelon with my green skirt and pink shoes, but if it's wrong to dress like your favorite fruit, then I don't want to be right.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Stars and Stripes

Although this is not my typical patriotic July 4th outfit post, I am wearing stars {the sandals} and stripes!

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy Independence Day!

Oblivious

Blazer:  Helmut Lang, Tee:  Forever 21, Jeans:  Forever 21, Shoes:  Christian Louboutin, Bag:  c/o GiGi New York, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban
I wish it weren't so, but I'm definitely one of those people who isn't always completely aware of their surroundings. For example, this enormous American flag mural is painted on the side of a convenience store that I pass almost every day. I was none the wiser until my husband pointed it out to me recently.
Kinda makes me want to get out there and do some exploring this weekend.

White and Nude

Sweater:  Brandy Melville (old, similar here), Jeans:  Henry & Belle c/o PB&J Boutique, Bag:  C.Wonder (old, newer version here), Shoes:  Zara (similar here under $20!!), Aviators:  Ray-Ban
Since Mother Nature seems to keep reminding us that fall is around the corner, I decided that I need to wear all of my summer faves at least one more time before autumn arrives.
Excuse my adult sip-cup.  I was literally about to hop in my car {running late for work} as my husband snapped these shots.

Smooches

Top:  J.Crew ~ almost sold out online (love this seahorse top, similar pricy option here), Skirt:  H&M (old, loving this one, similar here), Shoes:  Steve Madden, Clutch:  c/o GiGi New York, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban, Earrings:  Gift from my grandmother (similar here)
I've been wearing a lot of blue and white lately.  I guess I would consider them my go-to summer colors.
I had my eye on this seahorse tee for a while before I finally decided to purchase.  I snagged it on sale last week for under $20 ~ too good to resist!
When I brought it home my husband said it looks like something my grandmother would have packed to take with her to Florida for the winter.  Had me in hysterics ~ I wonder sometimes where he comes up with this stuff?!?  Gotta love a guy's opinion about women's fashion!

Take Two

Top:  J.Crew (old, similar here, lining this sleeveless version), Skirt:  c/o eShakti, Shoes:  Steve Madden, Bag:  Unknown (similar here), Earrings:  Tory Burch, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban
When I put these pictures up on the computer I started to ask myself 'where had I seen this outfit before?'  It then occurred to me that this ensemble is strikingly similar to what I wore the last time I styled this skirt {see here}.  I hope you will all forgive me.  I will point out though, that I did try something a little out of my comfort zone by knotting the top rather than tucking it into the skirt.  I'm a big tucker, but I like the knotted look with this super high-waisted number.
Also, I finally broke down and bought these Steve Madden "Realove" heels.  Originally I had purchased a similar pair from Zara, but they just weren't comfortable for me {the straps were a little tight on my toes}.  I'm so happy that I went with these because they are comfortable and cute and reasonably priced.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Cover-Up

Dress:  Blue Life, Bag:  C.Wonder, Necklace:  Nordstrom, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban ~ on SALE!!, Sandals:  J.Crew (similar here)
With Memorial Day right around the corner, we are fast approaching my favorite time of year ~ beach season.
The beach is my absolute favorite place in the world.  No specific beach, from the tropics to the Jersey shore, I love them all.
When it comes to beach style, I'm not as concerned with my choice of swimsuit as I am about my choice of a great cover-up.  I tend to go with the maxi dress.  They are easy to slip on, usually flowy rather than clingy, and they transition well from the sand bar to the tiki bar.
Swimsuits Direct not only has an extensive array of swimsuits, but has a vast variety of cover-ups to choose from.  Whether you're a maxi gal like me, a romper-wearer, or you don the the more traditional tunic, they've got it all:

Fashionista In Flats

Blazer:  Zara (old, similar here), Shirt:  J.Crew, Jeans:  J.Brand (old, similar here for $10!!!) Shoes:  Anthropologie, Clutch:  Unknown (similar here, drooling over this one), Ring:  c/o Left of Right, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban
If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, then you know I feel there are few things more enjoyable in life than putting on a fabulous pair of heels and struttin' my stuff.  However, I've also expressed to you the importance of a great pair of flats for my line of work.
One major misconception about flats is that they are more comfortable than heels.  This is not always the case.  I actually find it difficult to find a pair of flats that are comfortable to walk around in all day without developing blisters on my toes or my heels.
When browsing the Anthropologie website last week, these minty-fresh loafers caught my eye, and I'm so glad they did.  The leather is SUPER-SOFT and they also have a substantial sole {another feature sometimes hard to find in flat shoes}.  Not to mention, the color adds the perfect pop of color to any outfit.
{Not graceful.  Not coordinated.}
Stop by Le Petite Pear today to see my "Fashionistas in Flats" feature ~ thank you Sam for featuring me!
