Leather Drawstring Shorts

Two things that I had been searching for for quite some time:

1. leather shorts that are not too short, not too tight {shorts I can wear to work with tights in the fall/winter}

2. drawstring shorts

Imagine my delight when I came across the perfect combination of the two. In addition to meeting my above requirements the shorts are croc embossed {major bonus} and they were on sale! I call that a win, win, win, win!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

In Motion

Dress:  Zara (sold out, almost identical here, lacy version here), Shoes:  Tibi (old, LOVE this year's version), Bag:  Forever 21 (old, fabulous alternative here), Sunnies:  Forever 21 (similar here)

Some garments must be photographed in motion in order to do them any justice.

This dress clearly being one of them. Standing still, the dress does not have much of a shape. However, once you get moving, this seemingly ordinary LWD comes to life.

It would be the perfect pick for an exotic island getaway. But for now I'll settle for wearing this flowy frock at the Jersey Shore.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Graduation

Dress:  Anthropologie (old, great option here), Shoes:  Steve Madden (old, great option here, obsessed with these), Bag:  Sophie Hulme, Bracelet:  unknown (similar here), Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

Tonight my husband and I are super excited to attend my nephew's high school graduation ceremony. The end of school is a little different for me this year, as it is the first time in 7 years that I'm not working in the education field.

But truth be told, I'm extremely happy with my decision to change careers and have transitioned seamlessly into my new position.

The weather is supposed to be perfect tonight which is why I chose this easy  breezy go-to number.

Congrats J-Man and the class of 2014!

Summer Summer Summertime

Dress:  unknown (very similar here under $40), Shoes:  Zara (old, loving these), Bag:  Sophie Hulme, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

After months and months of one of the coldest winters I can remember, summer is finally here. Well, not officially here until Saturday, however yesterday certainly felt like summer to me. To celebrate, my husband and I went for a post-work boat ride to grab a cocktail.

In other events, my sister-in-law's wedding this past Saturday went off without a hitch. It was hands down the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time {such a great time that we are still recuperating}.

Happy hump day everyone!

Rehearsal

Blazer:  Helmut Lang ~ on sale!, Dress:  Anthropologie (old, LOVE this similar option, this one too!), Bag:  3.1 Phillip Lim, Shoes:  Loeffler Randall, Sunnies:  LeSpecs c/o SunglassesShop

This Helmut Lang blazer ~ another one of my sale finds.

I was in desperate need of a new white blazer, and after purchasing this leather-sleeved number for my birthday, I would settle for nothing less than Helmut Lang.

There is something about a perfectly tailored blazer ~ a wardrobe essential.

Tonight we celebrate my sister-in-law's rehearsal dinner. Our yard has been transformed into the most enchanting wedding venue I have ever seen {complete with a custom altar that my husband built}. And along with a fabulous weather forecast, I'm sure the day is going to be absolutely perfect!

Geometric

You may or may not have noticed that lately I have been pretty good about not being my normal shop-a-holic self. I have been saving money instead of spending as my husband and I are preparing to build our dream home.

However, this saving streak went out the window about a week ago when the summer sales started. I have been finding bargains everywhere that are just too good to pass up. I had my eye on this geometric gem for months, but was not about to pay the $400+ price tag. So I waited patiently and scored this recently for under $150! Too good to pass up.

Besides, what's the point of having a new closet if ya can't fill it up? {Let's not tell my husband I said that.}

Happy hump-day everyone!

Loungin'

Cover-up:  Madewell ~ on sale!, Bag:  C.Wonder (old, LOVE this cork version), Sandals:  Loeffler Randall, Sunnies:  Forever 21 (sold out, similar here), Bracelet:  unknown (similar here)

My sister-in-law is getting married at my husband's family's lake house {aka our current residence} in FIVE days. Contrary to the title of this post, we have been doing everything but loungin'.

My husband and I are both in the wedding party. It's going to be a spectacular event. Stay tuned for pics from Ali's big day.

Skirting The Issue

Top:  Aritzia (old, great alternative here), Skirt:  Anthropologie (old, LOVE this budget-friendly option), Shoes:  Schutz, Bag:  3.1 Phillip Lim, Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

There are some items in my closet that I never tire of. This printed pencil skirt is definitely one of them. It's perfect for work and for any dressier occasions.

I wore it to my cousin's bridal shower on Saturday and then to work again yesterday.

Not to mention, I have worn this skirt for TWO job interviews and have gotten the job both times. I'd say that makes it my good-luck-charm-skirt.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
